James, George, Delmar, and John/Katherine’s family accounts with relationship and obituary-source qualifications.
James Robert Morrison: work and everyday life
James Robert Morrison (1949–2022), son of John Michael and Katherine Pleyer Morrison, graduated from Salisbury High School in 1967. His obituary recalls Army service during the Vietnam era and a working life in sales for the Eskew plant in Cairo and Slater Wood Preserving. Away from work, he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and cars. Read the obituary supplied by Summerville Funeral Home and Patton Funeral Home.
The family connection is supported by Bridget’s memoir, which names her brother John’s wife Katherine Pleyer and their daughter Helen, and by James’s obituary, which names the same parents and his sister Helen Beirne. George Morrison: railroad work and family
Michael and Barbara’s son George Lawrence Morrison made his home in Kansas City from 1961. His obituary recalls 30 years as a Norfolk Southern Railroad switchman and retirement in 1987. His first wife, Wanda Marilyn Gibson Morrison, died in 1979; he married Betty in 1986. The notice names his sons, Jack and Paul, and remembers his enjoyment of the outdoors and work on the family farm in Jefferson County, Kansas.
A 2006 newspaper profile connects this family story with Paul Morrison’s law career. Paul named George and Wanda as his parents, Jack as his brother and Joyce as his wife. He credited his parents’ care and example, calling his father “the biggest influence in my life.” The article traces his work in the Johnson County prosecutor’s office from 1980; he became district attorney in 1989. Paul later served as Kansas attorney general from January 2007 to January 2008.
