1967 · Bob in the staff-profile series
An August 4 J.F. Roling & Son advertisement featured a portrait captioned Bob Roling and described him as a Salisbury native who had grown up around the shop. It named his wife as the former Bridget Morrison and listed six children at that time: Jane, Linda, Ronnie, Betty, David and Dan. David and Dan were described as becoming familiar faces at the shop. October 10, 1974 transition: “Rolings Quit Plumbing And Heating Business,” Salisbury Press-Spectator, page 1, announced that Bob Roling was discontinuing the firm’s plumbing and heating work to give more space and time to the John Deere dealership. Tony Morrison, associated with the firm for more than twenty years, was to take over plumbing, heating and air-conditioning work and initially operate from his home. West Second Street remodeling was also planned. Read the original 1974 announcement. This records an announced operational change, rather than documenting a legal sale or confirming that the remodeling was completed.
A signed notice from Bob: On page 4 of the same October 10, 1974 issue, Bob Roling announced that Tony Morrison was taking over plumbing and heating while Bob devoted his time and shop space to farm implements. Bob stated that Tony had worked for him for 22 years, adding a precise tenure to the page-1 account’s “more than twenty years.” Read Bob Roling’s signed notice, published under J.F. Roling & Son.
