Her name appeared in the newspaper\u2019s school athletic-awards lists that May.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Source:<\/strong> <cite>Salisbury Press-Spectator<\/cite>, May 23, 1974, page 5.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"betty-roling-softball-1974\">1974 \u00b7 Betty Roling at bat<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The October 10 softball report credited Betty Roling with five hits in five at-bats in Salisbury\u2019s 19\u201310 junior-varsity win over Glasgow on September 26. In the B team\u2019s 25\u201315 win at Paris on October 1, she had four hits; the report gives no at-bat count for that performance. Mrs. Bob Roling and Mary, Jane and Linda Roling were among the guests. Escorted by her father, she wore her mother\u2019s ivory satin wedding gown, an antique gold cross that had belonged to her paternal grandmother, and carried her maternal grandmother\u2019s lace-edged handkerchief. Father Don Lammers performed the two o\u2019clock ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Linda Roling was a bridesmaid, David Roling a groomsman, and Dan Roling an usher. Afterward, the guests gathered at the Knights of Columbus Hall for a reception with a four-tiered cake decorated with yellow roses.
