The penmanship notice remains a qualified match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">School days and a lifetime of service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"family-addendum-story-6\">Ida Bange\u2019s school-day subjects<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An undated monthly school card from St. Joseph School in Salisbury preserves a glimpse of Ida Bange&#x27;s classroom. Alongside Bible history and catechism, the card lists slate arithmetic, mental arithmetic, letter writing and conduct. It is a reminder that a child&#x27;s school record could measure both classroom work and behavior, while giving practical skills such as writing a letter a place of their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Source: undated St. Joseph School monthly testimonial naming Ida Bange.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newspapers.com\/image\/1365728085\/\"><em>Salisbury Democrat<\/em> school report of June 12, 1908, page 1<\/a> names Ida Bange among six St. Joseph\u2019s pupils awarded diplomas for proficiency in the Palmer Method of penmanship. The name and school fit the Ida whose card survives, although the notice gives no parents or age to confirm the match. This was a handwriting award, not a graduation diploma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"family-addendum-story-2\">Frank Bange\u2019s bell at Mass<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The memorial prepared for Frank J. Bange&#x27;s Mass on July 10, 1999 remembers a life that reached a hundred years. He worked as a Wells-Fargo bookkeeper and a Railway Express office manager. The railway work took him traveling, and he enjoyed reading and dancing as well. In his apartment community, he also had a smaller, familiar role: ringing the bell at the elevation during Mass.
